CITY OF ELLINGTON PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The City of Ellington will hold a public hearing at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the Ellington City Hall located at 100 Tubbs Ave, Ellington, MO 63638 to discuss the city’s submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 23/24 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The city is interested in obtaining all citizens’ input on community development needs within the city. As part of the hearing process, citizens will be asked to verbally assist in the completion of a Needs Assessment document. The document will detail what the residents feel are the strengths and weaknesses of the community. The city needs as much local participation as possible to reflect the true desires of the community as a whole, as well as the comments relating to the proposed project application. The State has established a maximum request for each category. Activities that are eligible for funding include the improvement of public works, public facilities, housing rehabilitation, and others allowed by law. At least 51% of the funds must be used to benefit low-and-moderate-income persons. No displacement of persons is proposed.

The proposed project consists of, but is not limited to, paving and overlaying several streets, including Freeman Ave., Temple Ave., at least four segments of Cemetery Road, Skyview Drive, Rustic Lane and Woodlawn Terrace, within the city of Ellington, as well as the installation of drainage in areas of need. The estimated cost of this project is $433,000.00.

Approximately 790 residences will benefit from the project, which is estimated to cost approximately $433,000. The city will provide $10,000.00 local in-kind or cash match. The city proposes to apply for approximately $423,000.00 in CDBG Funding. At least 51% of the funds will be used to benefit low-and-moderate-income persons. All citizens are encouraged to attend and comment on the proposed activities.

For more information on the proposed project, or if you require special accommodation (including virtual participation or LEP assistance) at the hearing, contact City Clerk Amy Moore at 573-663-7715. The meeting will be held at an accessible location, and the city will make every effort possible to provide reasonable accommodation.
