     The City of Grandin is located on State Hwy. 21 in Carter County, with city offices at #1 Walnut Street, P.O. Box 59. According to the 2010 census and Mayor Rick Julius, Grandin now has a population of 243, a gain of seven residents since the 2000 count. The town employs one full-time police officer. Economic development for Grandin is assisted by the Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission. The city is governed by the Mayor, Rick Julius, and a four-member city council.

     Carter County's per capita income in 2010 was $15,881.

     Ozark Border Electric Cooperative, headquartered in Poplar Bluff, provides electric power for Grandin. The city provides water for its residents from its own well. The water plant has a storage capacity of 80,000 gallons per day, with peak consumption and plant capacity of 80,000 gallons per day. Grandin operates its own sewage lagoon.

They do their banking at the Bank of Grandin, which has combined assets of $157,108,00 million. Within the city limits are the public library and five Protestant churches. For medical services, residents utilize the Doniphan Hospital, only 18 miles away.

     Missouri Highway 21 runs directly through Grandin. It is 9 miles to the nearest four-lane thoroughfare. For air travel, Doniphan Municipal Airport, which is 13 miles to the south, has a one-mile runway. Jonesboro Municipal Airport, 92 miles away, is the nearest commercial facility in the area, and Lambert Field in St. Louis is the closest international airport.

     In 2015, the unemployment rate of Carter County was 9.3 percent, with an available workforce of 2,509. Only 234 people in Carter County were unemployed, with 2,275 having gainful employment. The average hourly wage for the county is $9.52. The county's major employers include East Carter County R-2 School District, with 130 employees; Van Buren R-2 School District, with 95 employees; Royal Oak Enterprises, a manufacturer of wood products, with 67 workers; The Landing, a popular vacation resort with canoe/tube rental and restaurant, employing 50 workers; Riverways Manor, a nursing home facility, with 40 employees; and McLane Forest Products, a lumber wholesaler, with 17 employees.

Picnickers enjoy a sunny day in the Grandin area     The nearest public community college, Three Rivers College, is located in Poplar Bluff and boasts an annual enrollment of 4,500. Arkansas State University, a public four-year college located in Jonesboro, AR, is the nearest higher learning facility. Fall, 2011, enrollment for the university was 13,920 students.

     Within a 20-mile radius, residents may enjoy the activities at two country clubs, two public golf courses, and four public parks. Current River is a popular spot for locals, as well as enthusiasts from across the state, where they enjoy camping, fishing, hiking/fitness/nature trails, motor boating, canoe and tube floating, and swimming. Average temperatures for Grandin run from 16 degrees Fahrenheit in January to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in July.

     Grandin's residents are represented by 153rd District State Representative Steve Cookson (R) and 25th District State Senator Doug Libla (R).   U.S. Representative Jason Smith (R) represents Grandin in the Eighth Congressional District.
